About
Hello! My name is Laarnie Barcelon.I am a First Generation Filipino American, Los Angeles and Orange County based creative freelancer specializing in costume styling, wardrobe, and design. Typically working and experienced as a:
Theatrical Costumer ,
Wardrobe Stylist for Music Videos | Photoshoots,
Production & Design Assistant for TV | Film | Runway,
and a local Fashion Brand & Production Tailor and Seamstress.Paired with various complimentary working skill sets; a background in historical costuming, knowledge of East Asian cultural garments, experience in both clothing and costuming construction, and a heavy interest in highlighting and showcasing the creative potential of multiculturalism. Previous productionsIf interested in access to my working resume, feel free to contact me directly via email. Feel free to check out the visual portfolio in the meantime!
Outside of the workplace and while when not on the job, I am a creative content creator with a focus on showcasing, educating, and normalizing different alternative fashion substyles, subcultures, and lifestyles that I hold dear. With the help of social media platforms like Instagram, I have been given the opportunity to present a wide range of artistry and styling that emulates and personifies varying emotions, criticisms, and idealisms in a palatable, relatable way for the general public to engage and perceive with.Being able to highlight the importance of accepting one's individualism on the pathway of self discovery and acceptance through the use of visuals with an emphasis on colors, textures, and subtle yet exaggerating "aesthetics" is an honor as an artist.
In my early developmental years and youth, my hobbies and background was in mixed media art. Some instances of my work included murals, that unfortunately no longer exist due to Covid-19, and leisurely 2-D Art in both traditional and digital mediums. Though previous works of mine primarily include mixed media sculptures, ceramics, and varying creative textile production. In 2015, I had unfortunately lost the majority of the photographs documenting my work, and many previously treasured art pieces of mine have been sold, but many for fun & leisure pieces could still be seen at my artwork page.Other passions and interests included:Cosplay , " a performance art in which the participants dress in costumes and make-up, representing characters from anime, video games, television and film"Recycled fashion "Recycled fashion refers to clothing made from previously used materials such as plastic bottles, nylon, polyester, and even old clothing" production"Trashion "Trashion (a portmanteau of trash and fashion) is a term for art, jewellery, fashion and objects for the home created from used, thrown-out, found and repurposed elements"
Previously, an alternative fashion meetup event coordinator and Director of Operations for local 501(c)3 HarajukudayLA. Assisted with coordinating this Los Angeles based meetup organization in 2015. We aimed to create a space with a focus towards Harajuku, Japan's many alternative fashion styles! Meetups are held every 3rd Saturday of every month. Though I'm no longer a part of their team moving forward, an eternal cheers to 8 Years and Counting!
Other previous events hosted include: coordinating COVID-19 compliant and regulation safe cup sleeve themed events for K-Pop fans in cooperation and collaboration with local, small owned, family owned, businesses, cafes, and similar establishments. I've since established a 501(c)3 Non Profit with a focus on celebrating cultures and heritages from the Asian American Pacific Islander and Asia Pacific; with a focus on creating events celebrating and sharing each area's respective pop culture, and modern traditional aesthetics and lifestyles.

Most pieces will be dating from 2010 to 2015. Newer artwork will date between 2015 to 2019. Photos are not individually dated, but can be guesstimated based on photograph quality. If curious, feel free to reach out to ask.Age range when constructing these pieces were between Middle School to College.Unfortunately, a lot of photographs have also been lost throughout the years due to failed technology, so this is just a small compilation of a large sum of work I have previously created.
